PostHeaderIcon What is my Medical Condition?

First let me say that I don’t really believe in taking medicine. I’ve been always focusing on healing myself through herbs and natural things. I researched everything I can do for myself to limit the pain. I take vitamins. I eat healthy. I work out when I can bare it. It was hard at first to have to will power to adjust to this lifestyle at such a young age, but I got it under control now. I don’t do drugs and only drink on special occasions. I’m 20 years old and struggling with fibromayaliga, or what they think I have, but I think I have something that I don’t know about, and it’s been bothering me a lot. The main thing that worried me lately is that my right eye the skin above my eyebrow is slowly overtime sagging. Now, I know that sounds silly, but I’ve known my face for as long as I can remember, and I definitely see a change. A fact that you should know that I think might have something to so with this is ..when I was 15 I was hit in the face with a softball during a game I was playing and I fractured the bone below my eye. I guess would be called the cheek bone. I was tested for pretty much everything that go along with these symptoms. I don’t take any medication. I’m not worried about the pain at this point. I am worried about what medical condition I really have. To me I can’t except the fact that I only have Fibromayaliga. Anyways hear are a list of my symptoms. My symptoms: TMJ Horrible Gas pain Muscle spasms Joint, muscle and bone pain. Cracking of joints I use to have 20/20 Vision but now I feel like that’s changed Constant headaches Random light headedness Anemia Ringing in ears Face pain Stiffness Anxiety attacks toe numbness loss of some hair Bruise easily loss of weight This is the gist of the symptoms. At first I thought I might of had Lyme. They tested me twice and the results both came back negative. Still kind of convinced I have it. Can some one please feed me with some knowledgeable information, and please no negative feed back. Thanks.
You must persist. Sounds as if you are on to something, and I saw the same show. I can’t remember how long it took, but the Lyme tests only come back positive at certain points in the course of the disease. But…. I have to say that almost every symptom you list does also point to fibromyalgia…. and a LOT of the symptoms often accompany anxiety and/or panic attacks. I wish the best for you. Try and be patient, persist, insist on tests and try some relaxation techniques. Honestly, regardless of what it is… you are going to need to learn to relax and put the least amount of stress on your body and mind as possible. Peace.

PostHeaderIcon I would like to know of any next generation hair loss products especially new pills.

I would like to know of any next generation hair loss products especially new pills. I know that propecia and regaine (minoxydil) have achieved some positive results, but both are rather old, so is there any new pill?! thank you
Nothing new (FDA Approved) yet. I have not heard about testing of other 5 alpha reductases that are available either. You can get free info from Bosley though.

PostHeaderIcon Can biotin increase hair loss?

My mom and I started taking biotin + a daily multivitamin two weeks ago to make our hair stronger and healthier. Both of us have noticed more hair loss in just two weeks. Is this normal for the beginning – are they just old hairs? Should we stop taking biotin?
Actually thats kinda weird that its happening to you. Biotin is an excellent vitamin for both nail and hair growth so I don’t think its harmful to continue to take it. I would say that they are just old hairs ending their growth cycle, and it could possibly be your body preparing for healthier hairs to replace them!

PostHeaderIcon How much would a hair transplant cost? (in INR)?

PostHeaderIcon Do birth control pills stop hair loss when you have cancer?

I just want a straight forward answer. I’ve heard this from a friend of mine and I think they might be full of crap. Please let me know, but only answer if you have some proof beyond "that sounds fake". Thanks =D

No, it doesnt. If you want proof beyond that sounds fake, then you need to take yourself to google and research it yourself.

There is nothing in the birth control pills that would stop hair loss. Now, prenatal vitamins or maybe even the hormones in the pill *may* help your hair grow back faster and thicker, After it starts regrowing. However, the reason your hair falls out during chemo or radiation is because the treatment kills all rapidly dividing cells, not just cancer. The hair cells are included in that. There is nothing in the pill that would prevent those cells from being damaged by the treatment.

Cancer patients should generally consider using the some form of hormonal birth control, because pregnancy during treatment would be very bad. But it has no baring on loosing your hair.

PostHeaderIcon Hair Loss Drugs / Hair Loss Medicines

Though exception could be there but everybody wants hair on his head. Long hair is the symbol of beauty for ladies, for men significance of hair is same. Only healthy hair can be combed in attractive hair styles. Unfortunately, millions across the world are loosing this opportunity because of hair fall diseases. There are many factors which act behind hair fall. These factors could be hormonal disorder, deficiency of mineral, climatic changes, and salinity of water. Action of soap, shampoo, hair oil or any other hair care product on the scalp also can be a cause of hair fall.

Hormonal disorder and mineral deficiency is the prime cause of baldness. In male, a hormone named as testosterone is secreted in early teen to bring masculine characteristics. This hormone is synthesized into dihydrotestostrone (DHT) to start growth of beard and moustaches. DHT severely affects the scalp and contracts hair follicles which become the prime cause of falling of hair in male. This generally happens in late 20s or early 30s; however there is no age limit for this even people in late teens can also suffer from this disease. The baldness caused by DHT in male is called male pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia.

Male pattern baldness follows a definite pattern of hair fall but female pattern baldness does not obey any such rule. Female pattern baldness can occur after delivery of child or even after menopause. Hormonal disorder and mineral deficiency are also the prime causes of baldness in female. Baldness is much more embarrassing for female in comparison to male because bald ladies are generally snubbed by men.

Most of the hair loss drugs act either on male pattern baldness or on female pattern baldness, but there is a drug which acts on both; its name is Provillus. Provillus nourishes hair follicles of the scalp with its natural herbs and minerals. It dissolves dead cells of scalp, residues of shop shampoo, scalp oil which generally entrap in hair follicles. This action opens hair follicles as minerals and vitamins of Provillus stimulate the process of hair re-growth in re-opening hair follicles. Provillus contains all mineral and vitamin which are essential for the growth of hair like vitamin B6, Biotin, Magnesium. Its natural herbs extract like Saw Palmetto, Nettle root, Gotu Kola, and Curcurbita Maxima inhibits the working of DHT and stops Male pattern baldness. Eleuthero, Uva-Ursi, Muria Puama supplies fresh source of energy to hair so that they become stronger and thicker.

Being a drug with herbal ingredient Provillus is completely safe for the hair health. It produces no side effects. The success rate of this drug is high, it is around 90%. The drug can be easily purchased through online order. Companies also sell trial pack of Provillus. Trial pack of Provillus is a cheaper way to check the efficiency of Provillus.

PostHeaderIcon Biotin Hair Loss Treatments

Biotin hair loss treatments are numerous. The nutrient is sometimes included in shampoos or leave on conditioners and oral supplementation is also recommended. The question that most people want answered is this. How effective is it?

Let’s start with the shampoos and topically applied treatments. Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, is not well absorbed through the skin. So, it is very doubtful that a shampoo or other topically applied solution containing it would be beneficial.

Supplements, on the other hand, are often recommended for children and adults, because one of the outward signs of vitamin B7 deficiency is hair loss. In serious cases, it progresses to the point where the eye lashes and even the eye brows fall out.

Although adequate intakes (AI) have been established, there is no recommended daily intake to avoid deficiency. For men and women over the age of 20, the AI is 30ug/day.

Some women experience hair-loss during pregnancy and when breast-feeding. That may be due to an increased need for vitamin B7. Most pre-natal vitamins contain some.

Other individuals that may benefit from biotin hair loss oral supplements, because their nutritional needs are higher include athletes, elderly individuals and smokers. A number of different health problems, including autoimmune diseases, acid reflux, bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections, anemia and gastritis, cause an increased need for the nutrient, as well.

Prescription and over the counter drugs, including proton pump inhibitors and antacids, can inhibit the body’s ability to produce the nutrient or absorb it from food. In foods, the nutrient is bound to protein. The body must be able to break that bond. Otherwise, the nutrient will not be absorbed. Without adequate stomach acid, that cannot occur.

Some vitamins can cause health problems or even toxicity if too much is taken in the form of a supplement, on a daily basis. That is not the case for vitamin B7. No adverse effects have been seen in humans or animals, even when daily intake is 300ug/day or higher.

So, you could take a biotin hair loss supplement, even if you already take a daily multi-vitamin containing it. The extra dose could be highly beneficial.

There are thousands of different baldness treatments on the market. Some are obviously better than others. The most effective treatments seem to be those that combine increased nutrient intake with a topically applied solution containing Minoxidil, a vasodilator that improves circulation to the follicles.

For women a biotin hair loss supplement should provide 10mg per day. Other nutrients that are beneficial include vitamin B6 and magnesium.

For men, 40mcg of vitamin B7, along with 4mg of B6 and 12mg of zinc, seems to be the most beneficial. Saw palmetto is recommended, too, especially for male pattern baldness.

A holistic practitioner would tell you that we always treat many health problems from the inside out and from the outside in. In this case, that means taking a good biotin hair loss supplement and using a topically applied solution to improve circulation.

PostHeaderIcon The Truth About Hair Loss Pills

Are you one of those people concerned about going bald or getting balder, and are looking for a cure? Well, there’s a lot of hair loss pills, creams and rinses out there, but do they work?

You’re not alone. A quarter of men in their 20’s and 50% of men in their 50’s all lose hair or go bald. Until now, the only way to hide this fact was to use expensive and obvious-looking hair-plugs and transplants. However, with advances in medical science, there are now solutions that actually work.

Male pattern baldness is hereditary, and is triggered by testosterone reacting with hair follicle oil producing glands, producing dihydrotestosterone (DHT). When DHT is produced, this shrivels hair follicles and thickens the skin of the scalp. Not only does your hair fall out, but the scalp closes over the root so the hair will not grow back – ever.

There is no magic in these chemical reactions, and no old wives’ tales need be adhered to. The causes of baldness are known. This is a simple chemical reaction. So what do hair loss pills and the like do?

As you can guess, the chemicals in the pills interfere with the reaction described above. They can do this in a number of ways.

One type of pill may block the production of the nasty DHT chemical meaning that, over time, follicles stop shrinking and resume their normal healthy role – to grow hair. As long as you take the pill, DHT production can be inhibited.

Another pill directly stimulates follicles, causing them to actually grow. This may then lead to new hair growth. These pills reverse the process – they thin the membrane that has grown over the follicle, which may then be reopened, allowing growth.

In conjunction with these new supplements, many naturally-occurring substances will help the growth of your hair while the pills are taking effect. Zinc, vitamin B5 and Ginkgo all are shown to help the health of the follicle and therefore the hair.

There is no need, either, to wait until full baldness sets in. If more and more hair is discovered in your comb or hairbrush, now may be the time to start trying to halt DHT production. After all, it does take between 3 to 6 months for the process to become effective.

Talking about the time it takes for results to show, when you do opt to take a hair loss pill treatment, you should be faithful to it. Different pills work in different ways, meaning that if you jump from one to another, the work is lost from that pill up to now, and you’re starting over. Patience is the name of the game, if you wish to see results.

It goes without saying that you should first consult your doctor before going on a course of hair loss pills, shampoos or lotions. These pills act on hormones in your body so can cause some side effects, especially if you are using them in conjunction with medicine prescribed by your doctor.
