I have just started taking this pill – and been reading reviews of this pill, some people say about hair loss, have you experienced this?

No, but that is a possible side effect. Not worth it, but that’s just my opinion, and hormonal birth control could do that to you, not just yasmin, anything at all with hormones in it.

Everyone is aware that chemotherapy often leads to hair loss. What was new to me was the fact that when hair regrows it often returns a different colour or texture. Curly hair can return straight, straight hair can return curly. Hair might return lighter, darker or even grey.

I was searching for incidence figures but found none. In what percentage of cases will a change in texture occur?

Only some chemotherapy drugs cause hair loss, but it is almost always temporary. Hair re-growth may not begin until several weeks have passed since the final treatment. This is the most common impact that chemotherapy has on the outer surfaces of the body.

Hair regrown after Chemotherapy is mostly like what the patient had early i.e. before chemotherapy. In most of the cases more hair is grown. But it will not change the color of hair or texture of the hair. You might have noticed is very rare. It will look odd only in the older patients who used hair dye as the new hair will be white or brown.

In occassional or rare cases what you have mentioned may happen. -

My ex-coworker took it and it worked, I bought some, but never took it like I was supposed to. I know it works, but you have to stick to it. If anyone else has any other suggested supplements for nail and hair growth, please advise. I have been looking for a the "best" because I want longer hair. My hair is naturally curly and gets tangled a lot; I end up brushing a clumps of it out in the shower. It also drinks up moisture FAST. I started using some silk drops by FX to smooth the cuticle and close the pores, and it seems to help. Now all I need is the mega hair grower.

Not for sure the $ amount, but I have never seen any that look natural. I would not recommend it. All of the ones I’ve seen literally look like toy doll hair planted on a head when you look close up.

My advice, learn to love the head you have! If you just can’t stand it, there are hairpieces that can look great if you find someone who is good at it.

This got me thinking. After hearing a rather gross story from the Middle Ages that dealt with a nun treating a cancerous tumor, how were cancer patients treated prior to the advent of chemotherapy and radiation?

And here’s an additional question: why does chemotherapy cause hair loss and nausea in patients?

Unless a tumor could be cut out, most cancers resulted in death; although there were probably plenty of off-the -wall treatments. In the early stages of Xray therapy (think 1900s)–it was considered to be effective if the skin burned! Surgery for growths goes as far back as the Egyptians & Greeks (they used various drugs & chemicals for anesthesia).

Many Chemo drugs work by targeting the cell cycle in rapidly dividing cells (which is simply what a tumor is–very rapidly dividing & growing cells); the hair follicle is one such rapidly normal dividing cell line (your hair grows, right?) so that’s why they get "killed" off & hair falls out. So too the cells lining the GI tract are affected & you have many of the GI side effects associated with chem. That and many many drugs cause nausea in general.

I’ve read that 25 mg a day of this vitamin helps with hair loss. Is it true?
What does help hair to grow strong also if not this?

Biotin does help grow hair. Not the 25 mg, but 5,000 mg help. Answer my question and you can see how much my hair grew back. The first pic I was losing hair, but the other pics it grew back.

i dont know about the cost but i do know that it is the weirdest site to see. i met a man who looked liked he was growing crop out of his scalp. if i were you i would rather be bald then to look like that.
