Methotrexate and hair loss?
I’ve just begun Methotrexate for my lupus. I am on a low dose but am interested in the frequency/severity of hair loss from the drug. I have previously been through chemotherapy and am really scared of losing my hair again (I know this sounds superficial, but the methotrexate is to treat pain, not organ involvement–which is what I needed the chemo for).
Hair loss is relatively rare with smaller doses of Methotrexate treatment. However higher doses of Methotrexate can cause significant hair loss. This usually starts 3-4 weeks after the first dose of methotrexate, and may gradually worsen with subsequent doses of methotrexate.
my hair fall stopped because of biotin tablets..so does it mean its temporary?
i coloured my hair and experience excessive hair fall but after i took biotin tablets hair fall stopped completely within a week..does it mean my hair fall was temporrary and the hair i loss will grow again?
thanks:))
maybe! it is hard to tell! but anyway biotin is good for hair!
Is hair transplant surgery worth it ,what kind of results can I expect?
Next month I will be getting hair transplant surgery, it will cost about $9000. I have a bald spot on the crown of my head about the size of a softball and I am 38 years old.
Hi There,
If you truly want to regrow your natural hair and have a natural looking hair line, then hair restoration surgery is your best bet. Aside from hair restoration there’s only three other hair loss treatments approved by the FDA – Propecia, Minoxidil, LaserComb. Propecia is great for keeping the hair you already have, but isn’t proven to regrow lost hair. Minoxidil will regrow moderate amounts of hair, but only in some cases. Finally, the laserComb is still too new to be proven effective, but who knows – it may regrow hair as well.
I had a Bosley hair restoration procedure done back in July and couldn’t be happier with the results. Since receiving the procedure I have kept a blog called BattleAgainstBald.com. The blog details the results of my Bosley hair transplantation and I also provide a wealth of information on hair loss and the other methods used to correct it. I’m sure the blog will answer any questions you have.
Best of luck to you in your battle against bald and let me know if you have any questions.

"Many people in China have a belief that various tiger parts have medicinal properties, including as pain killers and aphrodisiacs. There is no scientific evidence to support these beliefs. The use of tiger parts in pharmaceutical drugs in China is already banned, and the government has made some offenses in connection with tiger poaching punishable by death. Furthermore, all trade in tiger parts is illegal under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora and a domestic trade ban has been in place in China since 1993. Still, there are a number of tiger farms in the country specializing in breeding the cats for profit. It is estimated that between 4,000 and 5,000 captive-bred, semi-tame animals live in these farms today."

"The most obvious distinguishing characteristic of the rhinos is a large horn above the nose. Rhinoceros horns, unlike those of other horned mammals, consist of keratin only and lacks a bony core, such as bovine horns. Rhinoceros horns are used in traditional Asian medicine, and for dagger handles in Yemen and Oman.
One repeated misconception is that rhinoceros horn in powdered form is used as an aphrodisiac in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is, in fact, prescribed for fevers and convulsions."

"Pangolins are also in great demand in China because their meat is considered a delicacy and some Chinese believe pangolin scales reduce swelling, promote blood circulation and help breast-feeding women produce milk. This, coupled with deforestation, has led to a large decrease in the numbers of Giant Pangolins.
Pangolin populations have suffered from illegal trafficking. In May 2007, for example, Guardian Unlimited reported that 31 pangolins were found aboard an abandoned vessel off the coast of China. The boat contained some 5,000 endangered animals.
The Guardian recently provided a description of the killing and eating of pangolins: ‘A Guangdong chef interviewed last year in the Beijing Science and Technology Daily described how to cook a pangolin: ‘We keep them alive in cages until the customer makes an order. Then we hammer them unconscious, cut their throats and drain the blood. It is a slow death. We then boil them to remove the scales. We cut the meat into small pieces and use it to make a number of dishes, including braised meat and soup. Usually the customers take the blood home with them afterwards.’ "

To facilitate the bile milking process, the bears are commonly kept in cramped extraction cages, also known as crush cages. While this allows for easier access to the abdomen, it also prevents the bears from being able to stand upright, and in some extreme cases, move at all. Living up to twenty-five years in this extreme confinement, results in severe cases of mental stress as well as severe muscle atrophy.[2] The World Society for the Protection of Animals reports that investigators saw bears moaning, banging their heads against their cages, and chewing their own paws. The mortality rate is high. Bears in bile farms suffer from a variety of physical problems which include loss of hair, malnutrition, stunted growth, muscle mass loss and often have teeth and claws extracted.[3] When the bears stop producing bile after a few years, they are usually killed for their meat, fur, paws and gall bladders. Bear paws are considered a delicacy."

"Seahorse populations are thought to have been endangered in recent years by overfishing and habitat destruction. The seahorse is used in traditional Chinese herbology, and as many as 20 million seahorses may be caught each year and sold for this purpose.[11] Medicinal seahorses are not readily bred in captivity as they are susceptible to disease and have somewhat different energetics than aquarium seahorses.
Import and export of seahorses has been controlled under CITES since May 15, 2004. However, Indonesia, Japan, Norway, and South Korea have chosen to opt out of the trade rules set by CITES. [12]
The problem may be exacerbated by the growth of pills and capsules as the preferred method of ingesting medication as they are cheaper and more available than traditional, individually tailored prescriptions of raw medicinals but the contents are harder to track. Seahorses once had to be of a certain size and quality before they were accepted by TCM practitioners and consumers. But declining availability of the preferred large, pale and smooth seahorses has been offset by the shift towards prepackaged medicines, which make it possible for TCM merchants to sell previously unused juvenile, spiny and dark-coloured animals. Today almost a third of the seahorses sold in China are prepackaged. This adds to the pressure on the species."

A further question: if you could make a law that prohibits all of such actions, what punitive measure would be included in that law?
my opinion
this doesn’t make any sence
Birth control pills and hair loss?
I’m 16 and stopped using Yasmin (for menstrual cramps, I’m a virgin) three months ago. I have noticed thinning on the top of my scalp since then. I went to a dermatologist and he said that the hair loss should stop after a few months. I was just wondering if anyone else has had (or is having) the same problem. Did you hair really grow back? Or did it just stop falling out? Hair loss (particularly female hair loss) runs in my family…So I’m very worried.
I’ve never had this happen. But I wouldn’t worry about it. Just wait and see what happens. However I think no matter what anybody says on here about something like that, you’re not really going to feel very comforted. I think you should call up that dermatologist and ask him/her these questions, and how you feel, mention that hair loss is common for women in your family. See what they have to say. If you still don’t feel the best, then get a second opinion. But I wouldn’t worry, I’m sure everything is going to turn out fine for you. And remember if things do go wrong, it’s whats on the inside that matters, and if you’re beautiful on the inside…that’ll shine through, and you’ll be beautiful on the outside to. Take care! And I hope all works out well for you.

Hair Regrowth and Chemotherapy.?
I’m 19 years old and it has been a year since I had my last chemotherapy treatment. My hair is still much thinner on the top of my head than it was before my treatment. Does anybody know how long it takes for someone to be sure that they have regrown all the hair they are going to regrow after chemotherapy? Also, does anybody have any idea if a place like Bosley hair restoration would perform a transplant on a chemotherapy patient, or do they just deal with natural hair loss?
Several women in my breast cancer support group found their hair came back thinner and that it grows more slowly than they had hoped.
I have seen several young men who unfortunately began to suffer from male pattern baldness as early as their late teens and early 20s. It’s possible that that is why it’s coming in thinner on top for you.
The hair that grow back is very fragile, so you have to treat it like a baby’s hair. Use only a very gentle baby shampoo like Burt’s Bees baby shampoo. Pat dry with a towel. A gentle conditioner would be helpful too (most Burts Bees products are natural and gentle).
Give it a little more time before you seek any intervention like a transplant. It must be hard for a young guy, especially after going through the treatments.
What shampoo and conditioner is good for hair?
I have black long hair. I am losing hair due to stress. I take biotin to reduce hair loss and helps a little. I dont dye my hair. I want my hair to be healthy and look beautiful.
also my hair is naturally straight. I dont use irons or curlers.
If you want a shampoo and conditioner that is good for your hair you’ll be better off going to a professional stylist who can advise you on what to use for your hair since yours is thinning due to stress. It is best to stay away from drugstore shampoos if you are losing hair because they have harsher chemicals in them and the salon brands are created to keep your hair healthy and beautiful.

No, it’s not safe. It costs more than you can afford.
Have a great day.
