PostHeaderIcon Im 13,hairloss :’(.. Please Help?

Look,im 13 years old. Curly hair. And i am having hair loss in the front and back of my head. it is so depressing i keep crying i cannot deal with it. my mother doesnt believe me , she just thinks my hair is thin. No one understands me. My mothers friend(old man) advised me to use lemon and water or something like that and it worked for him because he was loosing his hair and he used to wash his hair everyday. Look i am so sad about this and would like to solve it and get my hair back. My mother is going to take me to the doctors in a few days. i am scared and depressed i cannot take it. I don’t like it . My heads alwayz saw where the hairloss is taking place .is there anything i can do to it? Anything that can cure hair loss. Maybe the doctor will give me prescription to treatment. But is there anything else ? :(

try crushing some birth control pills into the shampoo that you use. It will make your hair thicker.

PostHeaderIcon How long were you on Chemo before you noticed any hair loss?

I know that not everyone on Chemo has hair loss. I am just wondering if the length of time receiving Chemo increases a persons chances of suffering from hair loss. I’m sure that it does, but I’m curious as to how long it may normally take after starting Chemotherapy. I will be starting radiation in four days and starting Chemo in six days so I have alot of questions about others experiences. I know that hair loss can be a very sensitive subject for some people so I hate even asking. I just feel like I need to know all that I can and I would prefer to hear from others who have actually experienced Radiation and or Chemo. Thank you.
The Chemotherapy I will be given weekly is called, Cisplatin and hair loss is a possible side effect.

We noticed hair loss about the second week, just a little bit. The third week a little more, at that time I made an appointment to get a wig for my wife. By the end of the fourth week it was coming out pretty good. The place we got the wig specialized in cancer patients and said we should just shave off the rest of her hair.

We were on Adriamycin and Cytoxin.

The insurance covered 100% of the wig, and it was expensive. It was 100% Virgin Russian Human Hair. Cost was about $2,300.

Hair started to grow back after about a month at last chemotherapy treatment. At first it was just a shinny fuzz barely visible. After 3 months from last chemotherapy treatment her hair is about two inches in length, but has grown back in nice curls. Before she had straight hair. And it is a little gray.

Side note:

A combination of chemotherapy and radiation is very hard on your body both physically and emotionally. Prepare yourself and treat yourself kindly during this difficult time you will soon be going through.

Pamper yourself, and have others help you. Take my advice…If anyone asks if they could help, take them up on it. All chores will seem like a lot during this time.

If they offer to do housework let them. If they want to do yard work, show them where the garage is. If they want to grocery shop for you and cook meals…take them up on it.

Whatever help you can get, take advantage of it. You are now carrying the Cancer card….use it for all it’s worth!

Good luck and we will be wishing you the best! You have friends here!!

PostHeaderIcon what can decrease normal hair loss?

i am constantly "shedding" hair but since it regrows i’m not too worried about it. what bothers me is that my hair looks frizzy all of the time because of the new growth. is there anything that i can try to decrease the hair loss? i know my hair would be fuller if it all just grew evenly.

one of the hair stylists that i go told me to try getting a shampoo with "biotin".

the things that really worked for me was:

1) Vitamin A – an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The ‘B’ vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

5) also I used herbal treatment – TrichoZed
It is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.trichozed.info/why.php

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) – a major cause of hair loss!

good luck!

not only my and my husband`s own personal experience

PostHeaderIcon Does anyone know how much it costs to do a hair transplant (the range)?

I am just 22 years old and I am turning bald… Things are totally out of my control. I feel the necessity to think about hair transplant. Could anyone explain how effective it is and more importantly the cost?

It can vary quite a bit in range depending on who you go to, the type of procedure and how many grafts you need.

Good luck on your research!

PostHeaderIcon How common is hair loss when going on the pill or NuvaRing?

I saw that a side effect is hair loss..
I have thick hair and I’m black[if that has anything to deal with it]…Would it be likely for me to lose hair? If so, how much?

Female hair loss can also be triggered by birth control medications, certain prescription drugs.

Birth control medications can unnaturally unbalance your hormone levels. And, when this happens, hair loss will occur. To prevent hair loss, you will either want to stop taking contraceptives or you can consult your doctor about it and get your doctor to recommend you a birth control pill brand that doesn’t contribute to hair loss.

PostHeaderIcon Hairloss, Premature Balding, Receding Hairline…?

I’m only 21, yet my hairloss occurs at an alarming rate. Now, I have a noticable bald patch, and my hairline is extremely high. I definitely want to say I am used to it, but the truth of the matter is no matter what, I feel extremely self-conscious.

I have tried using hairloss shampoos and lotions before, but have now stopped since I find them to be ineffective. I am a medical student, so I have done enough researches to know all of the predispositions to hair loss- stress, unhealthy diet, etc… And I have tried my best to avoid them all, to no avail. Of course there’s another factor I can’t beat- Genetics. Since both my Grandfather and Father have baldness too.

I would like to know if there are anyone out there who had the same problem and are on treatment? And wether the treatments are effective or not?

There are no promises, and I don’t want you to get your hopes too up, but this worked for me, and very well too.

I was about 21 in college, and started losing it at the corner of my hairline. I grew my hair out a little longer, to cover up those little spots. But I was feeling dread of what was to come, my hairstyle looked sleazy and whack, and any girl I could get to talk too, I felt like I had to lock her down cause I only had a little bit of time left. My confidence was so low man. Sometimes I would wake up and feel like I was in a nightmare as soon as I woke up. I never even thought of looking in a mirror, and in my books that I’d study, hairs would fall out.

One night I went out to a club, and cause of the sweat, it made my hair kind of wiry and thin, and some girl that went out with us said "oh my God, you’re going bald", like I didn’t know.

I went to my mom depressed and told her. She called the family doctor I had since I was a little kid, and he said come in to see him, he had something.

I thought it couldn’t be. I had even looked into hair transplants and propecia. Hair transplants are expensive, don’t always work, and don’t stop the hair from falling back. Propecia seems to work for some people, but its expensive, takes a while to work, and can cause impotence.

Sooooo, my doctor told me to use minoxidil. This is Rogaine. I had looked at it in the store and the box said it was only for the crown of the head (the back). I told him this, and he said no, it just wasn’t tested there, so they can’t put it in the box.

So I start using it, and I see my fake hairline combover start to get thicker within a couple of weeks. I looked under and I saw little hairs start to grow back. Not all the way to the old hairline, but still moving forward.

So I used it every day and night, and started seeing more and more hair growin in, and feeling more and more confident and happy. Then about 6 months ago I came on here, and asked if there were hair thickening shampoos. Some girl told me Nioxin. I went online, bought the second treatment system, for thin hair, and this combo has worked amazing. My hairline looks pretty damn good. I get a fade haircut, with what is called a tape (lining up the hairline) and it looks great.

Then the final awesome thing was, Rogaine just came out with a foam version. It absorbs really quick, and seems to have made even more hair grow out.

Try out this combo man, I think its potent, and I hope it works for you. I know what you’re going through.

If it don’t work, don’t sweat it. As humans we adjust to anything, and are happy wherever we end up. With time we always get used to circumstances, no matter what.

And I personally know a couple of dudes that sport the bald cut (cause they have to, not cause they want to) who pimp way more girls than me.

Good luck man

PostHeaderIcon why such drugs affect hair growth?

Many of the drugs used in chemotherapy cause loss of hair in the individual being treated. why such drugs affect hair growth.

Chemo drugs are targeted at cells that replicate quickly. Cancer cells replicate quickly but other body cells do as well. Bones, hair, and mucous membranes (especially those in your mouth, esophagus and stomach) all replicate quickly. Hence the immune system suppression (bone marrow), hair loss and vomiting.

PostHeaderIcon biotin with har loss?

If my hair is falling out and I star using biotin and I am going to just speed up my hair loss or will it have any affect at all?

Well biotin deficiency causes hair loss.So if u dint have enough biotin in your body to take biotin supplement.Biotin supplements can stop hair fall but does not speed hair growth.

PostHeaderIcon What is involved in getting a hair transplant?

I am going bald very young, I try not to let it bother me but it really is making me insecure and depressed as I am not even 21 yet.

I have heard you can get a hair transplant, where a surgeon takes hair grafts from the back or sides of your head and sticks them to the crown.

What exactly is involved in the procedure? Do you literally have a perfect hairline and thick hair, permanently, once you’ve had the operation? How much, in the UK, does it cost?

Any info welcome, serious, relevant answers only please.

Well my dad got it done here in the US, and what they did was cut some of his hair from the bottom back and then one by one start putting each hair into your scalp, forming the hair line you want (This is going to sound groose, but it’s how they really do it. They poke your scalp with all these little holes and put one by one). My dad just got it on the front sides. He said it was very painfull, and he has blonde hair so at the begining you cant really tell he got it done baecause the hairs are really short, but in a couple of weeks you will notice the diference, that hair will get longer and start taking form. It looks very good if you ask me lol you would never know he had that done. About the price I am not sure, but for sure it is not cheap!
