PostHeaderIcon Anybody know anything about birth control pills and hair loss?

Does switching brands or levels cause hair loss?? Please help! I need to know soon. I am about to switch to Yasmin from Ortho Tricylen Lo. I’m thinking I shouldn’t switch cuz it might throw my hormones off and I will lose more hair. My hair is already thinning.

weird..im on the pill and my hair has been falling out like crazy…i didnt think it was related!

PostHeaderIcon Why would a doctor be dismissive…?

…when you report a named side-effect of a prescription medicine? Surely this data should be noted and doctor should give feedback on patient observations.
A close relative of mine was prescribed the anti-inflammatory prescription medicine ‘Voltarol’ (diclofenac sodium) and was convinced of suffering as a consequence one of the rarer named side-effects (1 in 100,000) of substantial hair-loss – whilst taking this drug. 75mg dosage for 4 years.

She stopped taking it and the problem seems to have abated.
The doctor was not interested in discussing it.

Doctors get "perks" from pharmaceutical companies. The more of the medication doctors prescribe, and the less reports of side-effects, the better the "perks."

PostHeaderIcon I am using propecia for hairloss: how long should i use it minimum to reach a stable level?

and do i have to continue the treatment for the rest of life? ( i mean after 1 year if i stop the medication the results will be reveresed and i will lose all the regrown hair if any?)

The best person to ask is your doctor who has seen the type and extent of your hair loss. Can’t use Propecia for the rest of your life. It is kind of toxic to the liver if used for life-long. Not everyone loses their regrown hair.
Try lasercomb and rogaine as well. Rogaine helps to maintain the new hairs and so does the laser comb.
Get your hormones and liver function tests checked by the doctor.
