hair loss with chemotherapy?
my sister has aplastic anemia and needs a bone marrow transplant…she needs 4 days of chemotherapy will her hair fall out? any one have any advice or experienced this? please help
my aunt had cancer and got chemotherapy. What Chemo is is it is radiation that destroys every cell in your body.(every bad cell) so her brain will be fine. but it also destroys your hair cells. so yes she will lose her eyebrows and her hair most likely. I wanna wish her good luck!

It depends on what type of drug is used. My husband had chronic lymphatic leukemia and he lost all his hair. Having said that there were women on the day case unit who were having chemo and they had a special type of cap fitted. They had to wet their hair before they started this. The cap was fitted to a machine by a hose. The machine helped their bodies retain their hair while they were having treatment. It seemed to work well for them.
The best person to answer this question really is her oncologist. I wish you sister all the luck in the world and I am sure as long as you support her and give her love and she fights this she will get through it.

Unless it’s a very potent chemo, I don’t think so. Not with only 4 days. When my sisters lost their hair with chemo, it wasn’t until my younger sister had her treatment 6 and she called me and told me when she got in the shower and started washing her hair, it all came off on her hands. Every single bit. She was devastated. After a bone marrow transplant, your sister is going to be very weak and tired and very susceptible to infections. She she may not be able to fight the affects of chemo. I’m only speculating and please don’t take my words for it. Is it you asking for your sister or for yourself? If’ it’s your sister, the best person to ask would be her Oncologist because we don’t know what kind of chemo she’s receiving nor the strength. How I pray your sister does well. I know you will be her greatest support person. That’s so important. God bless.

Most likely it will. But you never can tell one way or the other. It often just depends on the indvidual and their reaction to the drugs.

Yes she will lose her hair because when you get chemotherapy it affects your hair cells. I’ve experienced this before and I’m experiencing it now because I had Leukemia in 2005 and now I got a relapse. So now I’m getting a bone marrow transplant tomorrow. My sister is my donor!

Often hair loss takes place during and after the 2nd cycle of chemos. Hair fall and other side effects depend a lot on your immune system. If your immune system is strong, the side effects like hair loss can be low. Cancer occurs and also spreads due to low NK cell activity of the immune system as many studies have established.
Transfer Factor Plus of 4life is a patented product that has natural extract of transfer factor molecules from the first milk of the cow & chicken egg yolk along with certain herbs like aloevera, olive leaf extract, mushrooms etc. TF Plus is considered by many to be the best support for any cancer patient. People on chemo & radiation who also consume TF Plus report a near lack of side effects as it helps in boosting the NK cell activity and also enhancing detoxification. I know of many cancer patients who took and take TF Plus along with chemo and have not had hair loss.
In your sister’s case it is unlikely that she will face hair loss now as it is only for 4 days. Still I suggest that you get her to take TF Plus capsules as soon as possible. Once her immune system is brought to the optimal level, her chances of recovering increases substantially. This is not a medicine or drug but only provides critical information to a person’s immune system and make it function better. Many doctors are not aware of transfer factors as it is not a pharma product. However you will hear positive feedback if you talk to anyone already on the product. It is now available in India.
